When Anton Diabelli composed a simple waltz in 1822, he sent out copies to fellow composers with a request to each for a variation on his piece. Eventually, Beethoven responded with not one, but 33 variations. Diabelli got much more than he bargained for. Hans Richter-Haaser ((1912-1980) performs here on the Seraphim stereo LP S-60027. The recording dates from around 1964. Transferred from the LP by Bob Varney.
